FANTEAKWA NORTH MARKS 2025 INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR DISASTER RISK REDUCTION(IDDRR) AT NTESO

The Fanteakwa North District joined the rest of the world to commemorate the 2025 International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) at Nteso under the theme “FUND RESILIENCE, NOT DISASTERS.” The event, organized by the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO)-Fanteakwa North, brought stakeholders together to promote a culture of safety and disaster preparedness.
The program followed an awareness float earlier in the day and brought together various institutions and community groups to engage in education and discussions on disaster risk reduction. Community members were sensitized on practical ways to reduce disaster risks through early preparation, environmental responsibility, and coordinated response.

The event was graced by the District Chief Executive (DCE), District Coordinating Director
(DCD), Deputy Director, Assembly Members, Chiefs and Traditional Leaders and Heads of Department.
In attendance were representatives from the Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Police Service, Education Directorate, Health Directorate, Forestry Commission, National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Social Welfare Department, Environmental Health Unit, teachers, students, and staff of the Fanteakwa North District Assembly.

Speakers at the event emphasized the need for behavioral change, proper waste management, adherence to building regulations, and community readiness to minimize the impact of disasters such as flooding, fire outbreaks, windstorms, and erosion.
NADMO also reaffirmed its commitment to continuous public education and collaboration with local institutions to promote disaster resilience across the district.
The District NADMO Secretariat expressed appreciation to all institutions and stakeholders for their continuous support and reiterated its dedication to building safer and disaster-resilient communities.
